High schools, leagues, dance, and cheer organizations choose Michael Nelson Photography for their team and individual photos due to several compelling reasons.
We come to you. No session fee if your team’s ordering a banner. No banner? Then it’s $35 per athlete up front—applied as a credit toward their photo order. Simple. If you're outside our 60-mile radius, a travel fee may apply.
We use a composite system, meaning each athlete is photographed individually. No chaotic group shots—just clean, sharp images we use to build your team banner with precision. To make it happen, we need an indoor space around 20x20 feet with a high ceiling.
For us, the experience is just as important as the result. Your athletes won’t just stand in front of a green screen—we guide each one through a short, high-energy session, capturing a range of poses and expressions in about 3–4 minutes. Game face? Smiles? Eye black? We’ll plan the vibe ahead of time so we can lock it in on shoot day.
Banner designs are fully custom—layout, size, pose style, sponsor logos, all of it. A couple of weeks before the shoot, we’ll send you a banner questionnaire and contract to nail down the details. Whether you want polished and uniform or bold and intense, we’ll match the energy.
Sizes vary depending on your layout and sponsor needs. We also offer mini-banners and plaques—great options for sponsor gifts.
And yes, every athlete’s image gets turned into a standout individual graphic with a variety of backgrounds parents can order.

The creative fee is non-refundable, and due upon booking to reserve your session date. If the weather is uncooperative, we will reschedule. The creative fee includes pre-shoot consultation, photographer's time during session, preparation of images for presentation, one ordering session, and print credit to be used at your ordering session if applicable. Prints and products sold separately. Wall art begins at 650 and albums begin at 1095. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
